The cuisine in South Tyrol tempts with divers culinary

In South Tyrol there are three official languages: German,
Italian, and Ladin. There are many worthwhile hiking possibilities in the whole
region, reaching up to a height of app. 4000 m (the Ortles group, 3905 m, near
Solda or Trafoi). In the vicinity of Meran there is the Val Passiria, the Val
d’Ultimo and the Val Venosta with the val Martello, and reaching till the Lago
di Resia.The health resort of Meran presents the well-known Thermae. The Val
Isarco with his side valleys: Val di Funes including the Odle group, Val di
Vizze, Val Racines and Val Ridanna. Two world-famous regions are the area
around the Sciliar and the Val Gardena, especially for winter and summer
tourism.
Branching off from the Val Pusteria is the Val
Badia (Alta Badia) and the Val Anterselva, both are well-known ski and hiking
areas. From Dobbiaco one can reach the Tre Cime di Lavaredo. In the south of
South Tyrol lies the Altipiano del Renon with the famous Earth Pyramides,
further the lake of Monticolo and that of Caldaro. Other important destination
is the Archaeological Museum in Bolzano where you can visit Ötzi, the Iceman.
